RIFLE. Cal. 38 WCF (38-40). S#. 206041. Bbl. 24" octagon. Replacement bead front sight has a broken bead, filler in rear dovetail with a combination tang sight. Full length mag. Blue finish with case colored action. Walnut forend & pistol grip stock of XX fancy walnut feature an ebony grip insert, style H checkering and a crescent steel trapdoor buttplate. Left inside of lower tang is stamped with "729" assembly number, "XX" wood grade marking & "38" caliber marking. Top tang channel of the stock has matching assembly number "729". Mfg. 1886. CONDITION: bbl. & mag retain 70% dull blue showing spotted corrosion and carry wear. The action shows 30% faded case colors with balance fading to brown. Original wood finish shows wear with numerous scratches & marks. Sound action. Lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling. (01-26817/DS). ANTIQUE. $4,000-7,000.
